A holistic massage is nothing more than a massage from the feet to the head. We recommend it to those who dream of a moment of rest and relaxation, those whose everyday life or work causes stress, those who live on the run, those who are overworked, those who spend too much time on the couch, and those who are active. A holistic massage is literally for everyone. Regardless of whether you want us to do a relaxing massage, a classic massage or a therapeutic massage, we will adapt it to your needs and perform a comprehensive massage you expect.
The scope of the holistic massage and duration
A full body massage lasts from 60 to 90 minutes. The difference is in the length of massaging the individual parts of the body. Usually, the masseur spends more time on the most tense and overloaded places, or those that you would like him to pay attention to. Depending on your preferences, you can do it first lying on your stomach and then on your back, or vice versa. If we decide on the first option, the back and neck will be massaged first, then the feet, calves and the back of the thighs. Then you will be asked to lie down on your back. First, the front of the legs will be massaged, then both hands. If you wish to do so during the 90-minute massage before the hand massage, it is possible to include the massage, abdominal massage and buttock massage.
If you prefer the spine to be massaged last, the massage will begin with lying on the back. The hands will be massaged first, possibly the abdomen and the front of the legs. After lying on your stomach, your calves and the back of your thighs will be massaged first, then your back and neck. There will also be a massage of the buttocks and thighs. Whether the masseur performs a classic full body massage or a holistic relaxing massage, the order of the massaged parts of the body is the same. This is what a standard full body massage looks like. Of course, we can modify it depending on your needs. We can include the buttocks massage in the full body massage, extend the back massage on request or perform a more intense massage around the joints. After all, massages and treatments that we perform for the whole body are for you.
From entrance to exit
If you have come to a professional masseur or physiotherapist, the first thing you will be asked for after entering the office, of course, after greeting and introducing you, will be to familiarize yourself with the contraindications for massage. The masseur will conduct a thorough interview with you regarding your health condition and your needs. In addition, it will dispel any of your concerns. You may also be asked about the music you prefer, the scent of essential oils or the scent of olives that you will be massaging. It is a very good addition to massage, which enhances its relaxing effect. We are very often afraid or ashamed to go to a massage, because we do not know if we need to undress during a massage. Yes, because after the interview and signing all the necessary consents, you should undress. Of course, you can stay in underwear or even shorts, if it is more comfortable for you.
When you are ready, the therapist will ask you to lie on your stomach or back. It is important that unmasked body parts are covered with a towel or blanket. It will save you from fighting a cold. The feeling of warmth additionally relaxes and puts you in a positive mood. Then the masseur proceeds to perform the procedure. Using alternate stroking, rubbing prepares individual parts of the body and joints for touch and further massage. After you have done all the massage that you already know what it covers in the previous paragraph, slowly sit down, then get up and get dressed. After leaving the office, if it is possible, it is worth to rest in the waiting room for a while, drink hot tea and then return home.
Classic massage, therapeutic massage, relaxing massage, description of techniques
We divide massage techniques into five basic movements that we make during our work. These include stroking, rubbing, kneading, patting and vibrating. We will use all techniques when performing classic massage. However, when you choose a relaxing massage, instead of stronger kneading or patting, we will apply stroking, thanks to which your body has the opportunity to relax even more through the action of the masseur. When doing a classic massage or a relaxing massage, each technique is performed in accordance with the direction of the venous blood. We repeat the techniques several times to get the massaged skin part used to the touch.
Stroking is a massage technique that every therapist begins and ends with a massage. During the massage of the whole body, we perform it on each massaged part. It consists in light, measured movements of the hand, which adapts to the contours and shape of the massaged body. Depending on the pressure, we divide them into superficial and deep. The task of this most frequently used classical massage technique is to remove exfoliated epidermis and skin secretions, and to shift the venous blood and lymph towards the heart. Thanks to this, our skin is better nourished, stagnation and swelling are reduced.
The second massage technique is rubbing. We also perform this technique, just like stroking, on each part of the body being massaged. Using reciprocating and circular movements, we move deeper layers. Characteristic for this massage technique is the generation of heat, and thus improving the blood supply and nourishment of the massaged tissues.
Immediately after rubbing, there is a classic massage technique called kneading. This technique is usually omitted during a relaxing massage. We use it when working on large muscle groups. It consists in lifting, pressing and squeezing out the massaged tissue. The kneading is to push the blood, lymph and used substances away, making room for nutrients. With this technique, we stimulate the muscle fibers, thanks to which they contract more efficiently and are better nourished. By using kneading, we make the muscles regenerate faster after physical activity, their strength and endurance increases.
The massage technique we usually fear is patting. Of course, when performing relaxation treatments, we avoid patting, because it has a stimulating effect. We also do not use it during hand massage. Short-term, quick successive spring blows also cause severe congestion. In our work, we can pat lightly, medium or heavily. For this purpose, we use massage techniques such as broom, spoon, pincer and fist tapping.
The last technique for full body massage is vibration. It consists in transmitting vibrations coming from the masseur’s hand, introducing the massaged part into rhythmic vibrations. After using this classic massage technique, the muscle excitability is reduced and the muscle fibers are stimulated, increasing their functional efficiency. We always end the whole massage with stroking.
How should you prepare for a massage?
Before coming to the physiotherapist or masseur, it is best to find out if you have any contraindications to performing treatments for the whole body. A few quite important ones are: cancer, the first trimester of pregnancy or varicose veins. If you have any doubts, it is best to consult your doctor or physiotherapists in the office. Wear comfortable underwear and clothes that will not restrict your movements and will be easy to remove. Take a shower before arriving for a massage. If you are unable to return home, there is a bathroom with a shower in the office, which you can use before or after the massage. Clean and fragrant, you will not have to be ashamed or wonder if you are dirty. It will be pleasant for both you and the masseur. Come a little earlier, it’s always better to wait a while, use the restroom and enjoy the full massage time. If you are late, we will most likely have to shorten your relaxation time. It is also very important that if for any reason you cannot appear for the massage, it is best to report it in advance if possible. Another client will be able to sign up for your place, and we will not have a gap in the schedule.
Advantages of a holistic massage
Undoubtedly, the advantage of a holistic massage is that these treatments do not apply to individual sections, but have a holistic and comprehensive effect on your body. We very often think that back massages are enough to make you feel better. Certainly, it will not be confirmed by anyone who has ever dealt with a full body massage. Moreover, for an hour or an hour and a half, we are able to relax better and fully feel all the movements that the physiotherapist makes. In addition, a relaxing massage or a classic massage are treatments that should be repeated regularly. If we work on the surface of the whole body, the massage will bring even better results (thigh massage, buttock massage, limb, back and abdominal massage). Thanks to the fact that your back and neck are massaged, your head will not hurt so much, and the sitting position will become a little more bearable, the painful points on the neck or between the shoulder blades will disappear. Swollen legs or arms will undergo a metamorphosis and will gain more strength and look better. In addition, it is a very pleasant and relaxing treatment that will give you more energy to live.
